Books, Inc. Presents Cintia Santana and Lisa Rosenberg

Books, Inc. presents a poetry reading and informal discussion by local authors Cintia Santana and Lisa Rosenberg. A multidisciplinary author and artist, Santana teaches poetry and translation at Stanford University. Her debut collection, The Disordered Alphabet, received the 2024 Northern California Book Award for Poetry. A former Stegner Fellow, Djerassi Resident, and engineer, Rosenberg served as the second Poet Laureate of San Mateo County. Her debut collection, A Different Physics, received the 2024 American Legacy Book Award for Poetry.

Omnidawn’s Prosody 2025

Running April 6-May 11, Omnidawn’s highly esteemed yearly prosody course/workshop led by David Koehn draws on Donald Justice’s Compendium to help poets expand their skills and creative directions through deeper understanding of prosody. Each meeting includes discussion, exploration, and weekly guest poets: Lisa Rosenberg, Rebecca Foust, Kim Addonizio, Maw Shein Win, Arisa White, and Forrest Gander.

Details and Enrollment (deadline: Sat. April 5). Sliding scale tuition, limited number of scholarships available. All proceeds support Omnidawn, a non-profit, independent press.

South SF Poet Laureate Celebration

Celebrate California Poet Laureate Lee Herrick and California Youth Poet Laureate Chloe Chou in the City Council Chambers during this special event. The evening will feature poetry readings, a solo jazz performance by renowned saxophonist Francis Wong, and a Q&A session. Hear readings by Lee Herrick, Chloe Chou, current South San Francisco Youth Poet-in-Residence Andrada Tomisinet, and former SSF Youth Poet-in-Residence Elizabeth Wong. Introductions will be provided by San Mateo County Poets Laureate Emeriti Caroline Goodwin, Lisa Rosenberg, and Aileen Cassinetto.

Free and open to the public, refreshments will be provided.
